October 17, 2020 – Travel Needle Kit by Ursula Greiner – Postponed
This workshop will be rescheduled at a later date.
Ursula (Uschi) Greiner lives on the Sunshine Coast. She has been doing wool applique with hand embroidery and embellishments since 2007. She is a well-known fiber artist whose current focus is contemporary folk art using her own hand-dyed wool and a wide variety of threads from around the world. She emphasizes the fusion of dimensional embroidery and traditional needlework. As a pattern designer, Uschi is inspired by nature, the play of colour and layered textures using different mediums.
In this one day 6 hour workshop each person will work with one of Uschi’s kits. She will guide us through the project starting with tracing the design on freezer paper, stitching it to the background, and learning a range of hand embroidery stitches. After getting a good start in the workshop, people can finish their project at home. All the hand-dyed wool, thread and special needles will be included in the kit. People should bring a pencil, sharp scissors, and pins. No sewing machine is required for this workshop. The cost of the work shop is $40 plus the cost of Uschi’s Travel Needle kit ($29.95 plus tax) which includes everything for finishing the front.
